10 Years of Sick & Tired

A few years into debilitating symptoms, my Lyme doctor said over the phone: “It’s a testament to your character that you’re still in the game at all.” And after enduring ten long years of chronic illness, labeled as everything from Lyme disease to CIRS and mold toxicity, etc., I was beyond ready to give up. The picture here shows me receiving another IV vitamin infusion, following another struggle to get even a small needle in my profoundly dehydrated body. You name it, we tried it. Ozone, immunotherapy, frequency treatments, detoxes, supplements ad nauseum, and countless protocols we hoped would move the needle on my healing. We estimate we spent tens of thousands of dollars on treatment, with only temporary relief and no end in sight.

After years of fighting to simply survive, and then to overcome chronic dental infections, lifelong lymphedema, trauma, insomnia, inability to digest or receive adequate hydration, and mental health issues, it felt like my husband David and I had exhausted every means of healing—even the most unusual ones.

Fast forward to May of 2023: I started a strict carnivore diet, and after six months, I had regained the ability to digest food; I slept somewhat better; and I knew for certain my healing would not come through the “sick care system.” And in October 2023, I decided to begin circadian practices, after listening to Sarah Kleiner’s story of healing through light and circadian practices following her two years on the carnivore diet. I had nothing to lose—and I prayed there might be something to gain.

The results were subtle but swift: by getting the sunrise in my naked eyes for 3-5 minutes, and the sunset too, and blocking artificial blue light at night, I started healing on a cellular level. My digestion healed completely, after spending years unable to eat freely and trying every dietary approach known to man. For the first time in 25 years, I was able to experience sound sleep without sleeping medication. And as the months ticked on and the results helped me heal inside and out, I knew at last that my separation from nature’s cues had been keeping me from recovery.

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t believe for a minute healing just takes time. Without the right signals from the sun in my eyes and on my skin, and an understanding of how to make up for our disconnection from the earth through new ways of bringing my body’s energy into balance, I would still be struggling and merely surviving, stuck in an endless loop of trying everything but not healing the root causes of my illness. Gratefully, though its a journey, I am now confident in my choices and my ability to take the opportunity provided by “the old but somehow emerging” science of quantum biology to live a life that gives me more freedom to make a difference in the world.

Sixteen months ago I began a Circadian-friendly lifestyle, the pieces of healing and health naturally began to fall into place. And after easily a hundred hours of personal research, including a course with Quantum Clinician and Educator, Carrie Bennett, I knew I was meant to share what had kept me from healing—and the subtle and inexpensive things anyone can try to begin healing no matter what their challenge.
